History Associates is a historical consulting firm that provides a wide range of services to its clients. The group has the ability to research and write a company’s history, preserve and manage its records, develop content for exhibits or conduct specialized historical research. This book project was a collaboration between History Associates and Blount Fine Foods, a custom foods company that specializes in soups, gourmet prepared foods and unique clam delicacies for some of America’s best-known institutions, food service distributors, soup manufacturers and restaurateurs.
- This richly illustrated book tells the story of how a World War II-era shellfish processing company evolved to become a producer of soups and gourmet prepared foods. The book focuses on how founder Nelson Blount turns a struggling new seafood business in Rhode Island into a national foods distributor. The story is based on oral history interviews with key personnel, supplemented with research into company archives and secondary research conducted at repositories such as the Library of Congress and the National Archives.
- Graphcom Creative coordinated the art direction, internal page layout and cover production for the Blount Fine Foods/History Associates project entitled From Sea to Soup: The Evolution of Blount Fine Foods 1946-2011. Graphcom, Inc. contributed printing and bindery services for the project.
